Why Your Bitcoin Transactions Are Taking So Long to Confirm

lol - bitcoin confirmations taking hours again

This is ridiculous. I need to buy dash at these rates and first fiat gateways delayed me, and now their antithesis, bitcoin, is delaying me. BS

Bitcoin transaction taking ages. No confirmation within 24 hours.

Hi everyone. I hope this question isn't a bother, as I'm sure similar questions are asked frequently.

My Bitcoin transaction with transaction ID: 693019f598a9760f02e6ee29ad7c39e69011d9cd95043daab4e62c8e93fc5671 has been hanging for 24 hours now. I withdrew my Bitcoins from the Cex.io exchange. They have a default fee set up, so I could not increase it. Is there any way for me to cancel this transaction (and send it back to my cex.io account) or even speed it up? I mean, is the fee really that little as to have this type of effect on transaction times? 0.005 BTC for ~3000 bytes

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated! Thank you and kind regards, Ima

"It has been over 10 hours and my bitcoin transaction still hasn't confirmed yet...This is one of the main reasons btc has not gained mainstream adoption yet as a peer to peer electronic cash. Imagine how users & businesses feel when it takes this long to confirm."

How is bitcoin suppose to be useful if it takes over two hours for a transaction to even confirm!

As the title says if it takes over 2-3 hours for bitcoin to confirm how can this even work as any type of currency.

Bitcoin transaction taking 24+ hours to confirm?

I tried to buy something yesterday, and this happened:
https://blockchain.info/address/33aJgsFT1zzVGx1dpudF2gNaCiS6VKju55
It's been 27 hours now and it's still 'unconfirmed'.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to help this along? I'm assuming after this amount of time it must be something on my end, but I don't know what.
I'm using Multibit on my laptop, and I've 'repaired my wallet' like twice already.
Thanks for any advice.
EDIT: Finally confirmed after 32 hours. Thanks for the advice.

For example, on the Bitcoin blockchain, a block is mined on average every 10 minutes, and Kraken only credits Bitcoin deposits to a client’s account after 6 confirmations, which takes approximately 60 minutes. However, sometimes it can take Bitcoin miners 30 or even 60 minutes to mine a single block (1 confirmation). Currently, bitcoin network traffic is unusually high due to increasing demand for transactions per block. Block sizes are limited, so this means that transactions which exceed the capacity for a block get stuck in a queue for confirmation by bitcoin miners. This queue of unconfirmed transactions is called the bitcoin mempool. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. In any case, the average time a Bitcoin transaction takes for confirmation is 10 minutes, and that’s because the Bitcoin’s block timing is 10 minutes. But this isn’t true every time because your Bitcoin transaction confirmation can take up to several hours and sometimes even days after you have made a transaction. Transactions with too low a fee can take hours or even days to confirm, and sometimes never confirm at all. But here is what you can do today to keep your own transaction from getting stuck. Before You Send It. For the first years of Bitcoin’s existence, most wallets added fixed fees to outgoing transactions: typically, 0.1 mBTC.
